Hello! I am Dr. Kelly Liao. I received a bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Toronto and earned my PhD in Counseling Psychology at Iowa State University. I completed my internship at University of Missouri-Columbia Counseling Center where I obtained experience with adolescents, adults and couples. I specialize in anxiety, depression, family-child relations, and interpersonal relationship difficulties. I am licensed as a psychologist in Ohio. Currently, I teach in the Counseling Psychology doctorate program at Cleveland State University. I use research-supported treatments for clients and provide services through a secure online video connection so you can receive help at a time and place that works for you.
Therapy can alleviate pain and suffering but more importantly it also promotes growth and change. I believe that by developing a caring, empathic, and trusting relationship with my clients, they can gain insight and understanding about relationships, problems, and personality patterns. I believe that effective therapy is only possible when clients are viewed through their multiple identities (e.g., race/ethnicity, gender) and environments.
