Hello! My name is Dr. Daniela Burnworth. I earned my PhD in Counseling Psychology from The Ohio State University in 2004. I completed my doctoral internship training at the counseling center at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Throughout my professional experiences in private practice and college student mental health settings, I have focused on individual and group therapy, as well as the supervision and training of future psychologists and mental health professionals. I specialize in mind-body approaches (e.g., mindfulness, somatic techniques) for the treatment of anxiety, depression, body image concerns, and trauma.
I use a range of evidenced-based treatment models, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness interventions, and Interpersonal Therapy approaches. My goal is to guide you through a transformation of the challenges you’re facing by helping you reconnect more fully with yourself: identifying feelings, tuning in to internal experiences, and shifting how you relate to your thoughts and feelings. We all exist in context (shaped by our individual story and how we experience our unique identities). For me to best support you, I prioritize learning about your specific context so we can celebrate what’s working well, create change where it’s wanted, and understand the impact of social/cultural influences on your well-being.
